Well this is a very much needed update indeed. My life has been ultra busy. So reading has been really slow. Hopefully once winter really gets here I can start reading more..... maybe after Christmas... or maybe new years.... lets just say I hope is to soon!!! I was enjoying Emma and still would be if I was reading it. Right now it is lying by my light and hasn't been moved for a while.
I was reading it with my sister but I was to busy to continue so she went a head and I don't even what to know how many books she has read since then ;)
Anyways... I haven't dropped off the planet but I am just taking advantage of the nicer weather while it is here. Hopefully you will hear more from me around January :)

Little Dorrit
Today I finished Little Dorrit. It took me 1 month and 13 days. Not bad!!
It is definitely one of my favourite books. It is hard to say why but it is. I am not going to start another book right away because I need to get some other things done before. Plus whether I like it or not winter is coming and I will have lots of time to read then so why waste.... no reading is never a waste of time.... so lets say why use the few weeks of fall that we have reading when you could wait a couple more weeks and be reading a good book in front of a fire ;)
I am not sure what book I will read next. I am thinking maybe Emma but I am not sure. Or maybe Cranford..... will have to think about it. Since the newest BBC Emma is coming out today but we will get it over here in in January [I think. Correct me if I am wrong dear sister ;)] maybe it would be a fitting time to read it.
Anyways. That is all for now. I don't have any money to buy new books with so nothing new to report in that area :)

Books arrived!
They came!
The only down side is that Do Hard Things is to tall to fit on my shelf :( Oh well. I will have to get a new shelf ;)
I am on page 620 of Little Dorrit. I can't believe how fast it has gone!! Only 275 pages left. Wow. Anyways. I have been really enjoying it. Since it has been so nice out side I haven't had a lot of time to read... all we need is a couple rainy days :)
I am hoping to buy a book called "Horse Owners Guide to Natural Hoof Car" by Jaime Jackson. I am going to be learning to trim my horses hooves and a friend recommended this book. So hopefully I can order that soon so that I can start reading it. Should be fun!
Well that is all for now!

Little Dorrit progress
Well as I mentioned in the previous post I am reading Little Dorrit. I am now 524 pages in and so far I am really enjoying it. I started the second "book" yesterday. So the Dorrits are now rich. I really feel sad for Little Dorrit. She is so kind, patient, and loving [even when the others aren't that nice to her].
I don't think I have ever read a book as fast as I am reading Little Dorrit. Before I started reading it I wasn't sure if it would seem like it was dragging on but it hasn't. The story is moving along at a nice pace, not to fast but not to slow.
I ordered Northanger Abbey and Do Hard Things by Brett and Alex Harris off the internet. I can hardly wait till they come in. Plus my birthday is coming up and I have requested two books. So I am excited!!! I am reading a friends copy of Do Hard Things right now. It is a paperback but the one I am getting is a hard cover. So it should be more durable.
Once I get Northanger Abbey I will have the complete Jane Austen set [not including her minor works]. Then I just need to read Emma and Mansfield Park and I will have read all of them!
I will be sure to post when I get my new books!

Welcome!
Welcome to Jr Bookshelf my book blog.
As of December 26 2008 I wasn't big on reading. When I was younger I would read some and collect some books but when I got older I got out of reading and only read what I had too. Then last December I borrowed Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen from my sister and have never looked back. From then on I almost always had a book on the go.
This May I started my own book collection. I bought Persuasion by Jane Austen and have slowly expanded my collection one by one. So now that I am reading more I decided to start a blog to write what I think of the books I am reading, what new books I get etc.
Here is a quick list of what I have read since Dec 2008 [in no particular order]
-
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
- Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen
- Persuasion by Jane Austen
- Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell
- North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell
- Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
- Secret of the old clock [Nancy Drew] Carolyn Keene
- Before you meet Prince Charming by Sarah Mally
Right now I am reading Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens. This is the first Charles Dickens that I have ever read. I am on page 300. I was a little concerned that it might be to hard for me to read but so far that hasn't been a problem.
Yesterday we went book shopping and I bought these books
-The mystery of the brass bound trunk [Nancy Drew, full 220 pages]
- The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
- Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis [the movie tie-in]
- The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis
- The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis
- The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis
- The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis
and my sister bought me Bleak House by Charles Dickens
I will soon be needing a bigger book shelf.
Anyways that is all for now.
